HAPPYHAPPY
JOYJOY HOUR
A weekly happy hour comedy open mic
proposed for Cabana Club
Tuesdays · 3:00 – 6:00 PM · The Clubhouse · Launching July 7, 2026

// The Pitch
In One Paragraph
Tuesday afternoons are the quietest hours of your week. We want to fill them. HappyHappy JoyJoy Hour is a free, weekly comedy open mic held indoors in the Cabana Club Clubhouse during happy hour, every Tuesday from 3 to 6 PM this summer. We bring the comics, the host, the production, and the promotion. You bring the room you already have, with the corner stage that is already built for this. Comics and their audiences buy drinks for three hours during a window when the Clubhouse is at its slowest. It costs Cabana Club nothing out of pocket, and it turns your deadest weekday afternoon into a recurring scene.
// The Opportunity
Why Tuesday, 3 to 6 PM
Most Austin open mics run at night, which means the afternoon comic crowd is underserved. Comics are working performers. They want stage time whenever they can get it, and a daytime mic with a real stage, a real bar, and air conditioning in an Austin summer fills up fast. Meanwhile, your pool bar is closed Monday through Thursday and Clubhouse traffic on Tuesday afternoons is light. This event puts a weekly crowd in that room, ordering during the exact hours you most need them to. A chilled adults-only pool twenty feet from a comedy show does not hurt either. Comics will stay after their sets.
// The Show
What the Event Looks Like
2:30 PM
Hosts arrive, sound check, sign-up sheet opens
3:00 PM
Show opens, host warms the room
3:15 PM
Open mic sets begin — 4 to 5 minutes per comic
5:30 PM
Featured closer or showcase slot
6:00 PM
Show wraps — comics and crowd stay for drinks
Indoors only, in the Clubhouse. We run a tight clock, we keep the energy up, and we leave the room the way we found it.
// Your Win
What Cabana Club Gets
1
Guaranteed weekly traffic during your slowest hours, all summer.
2
The overwhelming share of bar revenue — every comic, every friend they bring, every walk-in who stays for a set.
3
Free weekly content. We promote every show across our channels and tag Cabana Club in everything. Your venue becomes a name in the Austin comedy scene without spending a dollar.
4
A standing cultural anchor for the Shady District. Recurring events build regulars, and regulars build Tuesdays into a habit.
5
Zero operational lift. You staff the bar you would staff anyway. We handle everything else.
// Our Responsibility
What We Handle
Booking & Lineup
Luke Nukem and Mark Cunningham — experienced show producers with deep relationships across the Austin comedy scene.
Hosting & Stage Management
Run of show, sign-ups, timing, crowd energy.
Promotion
Mary Forma, ATX IRL and Maestra Marketing. Weekly social campaigns, event listings on do512 and local calendars, comic outreach, and cross-promotion through the ATX IRL network.
Setup & Teardown
We arrive early, we break down on time, we respect the space.
// The Structure
The Deal We Are Proposing
We get paid only on the business we bring you. Two ways to structure it, your choice.
OPTION A — PAY ON THE LIFT
Cabana Club shares its current average Tuesday 3 to 6 PM bar revenue as a baseline. The production team earns 25% of bar revenue above that baseline during event hours (2:30 to 6:30 PM). Everything up to your normal Tuesday number stays 100% yours. We only earn on the crowd we put in the room.
OPTION B — PROOF FIRST, THEN A FLAT SPLIT
First three shows: Cabana Club keeps 100% of bar revenue. We prove the draw at our own risk. Show four onward: the production team earns 15% of bar revenue during event hours.
UNDER EITHER OPTION
- No rental fee, no guarantee, no minimum. This costs Cabana Club nothing out of pocket.
- The production team also keeps tips and any outside sponsorship revenue we bring to the show.
- Cabana Club provides the Clubhouse stage, basic sound (or power for our PA if preferred), and access from 2:30 to 6:30 PM on Tuesdays.
- No exclusivity required from either side. If the summer run works, we talk about fall.
- Either party can end the arrangement with two weeks notice.
